HVAC & Mechanical Works
NLS Contractors installs HVAC and mechanical packages on Saudi projects: split, VRF and packaged units, chilled water plant and piping, ductwork and ventilation, sprinkler and fire pump systems, then testing, balancing and commissioning. Work follows SBC 501, SMACNA, NFPA 13 and NFPA 20, with Civil Defense acceptance support.
Mechanical packages are sold by system and judged by how they run in July. The system choice comes first. Split and VRF units suit offices, clinics and retail, packaged units serve roofs and warehouses, and chilled water plant with AHUs and FCUs serves hospitals, towers and campuses. SBC 501 is the mechanical code, SBC 601 sets the energy conservation requirements, and the consultant's specification fills in the rest.
Installation quality is measurable. Refrigerant piping is brazed under nitrogen, then pressure and vacuum tested. Chilled water pipework to ASME B31.9 is hydrostatically tested, flushed and dosed before any coil sees water. Ductwork follows SMACNA construction classes and is leak tested to the specified class. Fire and smoke dampers carry NFPA 90A requirements and, where smoke control is specified, NFPA 92. Insulation and vapour barriers matter more on the Red Sea coast, where humidity drives condensation.
Firefighting pipework belongs in the same trade. Sprinkler grids to NFPA 13, standpipes to NFPA 14, underground fire mains to NFPA 24 and pump sets to NFPA 20 are laid out against the hydraulic calculations, tested, and presented to Civil Defense for acceptance under SBC 801. A pump set that fails its flow test holds up the occupancy certificate, so the test is planned early.
Testing, adjusting and balancing is the step that makes a system match its drawings. A TAB agency working to NEBB or AABC procedures measures airflow and water flow at every terminal, adjusts to design values and issues a report. Commissioning to ASHRAE Guideline 0 then runs the functional tests, together with the BMS where one is installed.
Equipment can come from the HVAC and fire ranges at NLS Power, with installation priced in the same offer. A usable enquiry carries the mechanical drawings, equipment schedules, specification, BOQ and programme dates, plus the plant room layout for VRF or chilled water systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should a building use VRF or chilled water?+
VRF suits small to medium buildings with varied zones and no central plant. Chilled water suits large buildings, hospitals and campuses where plant efficiency, redundancy and long runs count. The consultant's design decides, and the contractor prices what is drawn.
What is TAB and who carries it out?+
Testing, adjusting and balancing. A TAB agency working to NEBB or AABC procedures measures airflow and water flow at every terminal and adjusts the system to the design values, then issues a signed report.
What does Civil Defense check on a sprinkler system?+
The design against the code, then the hydrostatic test and the pump flow test before the building is accepted. The contractor presents shop drawings, hydraulic calculations and test records.
What do you need to price an HVAC package?+
The mechanical drawings, equipment schedules, specification and BOQ, plus the programme dates and the city. For VRF or chilled water, the plant room layout as well.
