NLS Contractors

Split, VRF & Packaged AC Installation

NLS Contractors installs split, VRF and packaged air conditioning in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Khobar and across the Kingdom. Scope covers indoor and outdoor units, refrigerant piping tested under pressure and vacuum, condensate drains, control wiring and power connection, to SBC 501 and SBC 601. Handover includes piping layouts, test records, commissioning sheets and as-builts.

Three system types cover most buildings below the size where a chilled water plant makes sense. Split systems pair one outdoor unit with one indoor unit and suit single rooms. VRF systems link an outdoor unit to many indoor units on one refrigerant circuit, which suits offices, clinics and hotels with varied zones. Packaged units combine everything in one casing, usually on a roof or plant deck, and feed ductwork.

Installation quality is measurable. Refrigerant pipes are brazed with nitrogen flowing through them, so the inside stays clean. The circuit is then pressure tested with nitrogen, pulled down to the vacuum level the manufacturer states, and held. Only after those tests is refrigerant charged, with the extra amount calculated from the pipe length. Condensate drains are laid to fall and tested, because a drain without fall overflows in the first week the system runs hard.

SBC 501 is the mechanical code and SBC 601 the energy conservation code. Some specifications also cite ASHRAE 90.1. Beyond those, the manufacturer's installation instructions rule: clearances, pipe sizes, maximum length and lift, and branch joint types. The work follows those documents, and the offer says which ones it assumes.

Placement is where Saudi summers show. Outdoor units on a roof or plant deck need the service clearance the manufacturer gives, and room to reject heat without pulling their own hot air back into the intake. Units packed behind screens or in a narrow shaft lose capacity in July even when they were sized correctly. Layouts are checked for this before the units go up.

Equipment can be supplied by the client or sourced through NLS Power, with installation priced in the same offer. Price depends on unit count and capacity, pipe lengths, roof access and crane needs, and the control wiring. Lead time depends on scope and the offer states it. Send the mechanical drawings, equipment schedule, specification, BOQ and the site city.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install air conditioning units that the client supplies?+

Yes. Installation of client-supplied units is a normal scope. The offer states the delivery point it assumes and how damage found on receipt is recorded.

What tests are done on VRF refrigerant piping?+

A nitrogen pressure test to the manufacturer's value, then vacuum to the stated level with a hold period, then charging. Each result is recorded per circuit and goes into the handover file.

Why do outdoor units need service clearance?+

Air must reach the coil and leave without recirculating. Too little clearance cuts capacity in summer and blocks access for service, so the manufacturer's clearances are drawn on the layout.

How is a split or VRF installation commissioned?+

By start-up to the manufacturer's procedure, a check of operating pressures and temperatures, controller settings and a signed commissioning sheet per system. Larger projects add balancing and a functional test.
