Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection
NLS Contractors delivers structural steel packages in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Khobar and across the Kingdom: columns, beams, trusses and bracing, from shop drawings through coating and erection. Design follows AISC 360 with loads per SBC 301, and welding follows AWS D1.1. Handover includes mill certificates, weld maps, NDT and coating records, and as-built drawings.
A structural steel package covers more than the weight of steel on the truck. It starts with shop drawings built from the consultant's structural drawings, runs through cutting, welding, blasting and coating, and ends when the last bolt on the last connection is tightened and signed off. The scope is columns, beams, trusses, bracing, base plates and connections, fabricated and erected as one package so a single party answers for how the pieces fit on site.
Design and execution references sit in the specification, and the offer is priced to them. AISC 360 governs the design of the frame, loads come from SBC 301, and welding follows AWS D1.1, with welding procedures and welder qualifications in place before production starts. Some specifications add EN 1090-2 and name an execution class. Material is called up by grade, for example ASTM A572 Gr 50 or EN 10025 S355, and each mill certificate has to trace back to the steel that arrives.
Protection is a line item of its own. ISO 12944 sets corrosivity categories, and a coastal site in Jeddah, Dammam or Khobar needs a higher category than an inland one in Riyadh. The specification chooses between a multi-coat paint system and hot-dip galvanising to ISO 1461 or ASTM A123. The choice changes fabrication, because galvanised members must fit the bath and carry vent and drain holes. Coating thickness is measured and logged, member by member.
Erection depends on the site as much as the steel. The offer states how the steel arrives, which crane lifts it, what access the site gives, and who surveys the anchor bolts and base levels before the first column goes up. A bolt set out of position holds up the whole frame, so the as-built survey of the foundations is requested early.
Price follows tonnage, section sizes, connection complexity, the protection specification, crane and access, and transport distance, and the offer lists its assumption on each. Lead time follows the same inputs and is stated in the offer. Steel sections and plate can be sourced through NLS Industries when the client is not supplying them. To quote, send the structural drawings or the preliminary scheme, the grade and protection specification, the erection programme and the site city.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I send to get a structural steel quote?+
Send the structural drawings or the preliminary scheme, the steel grade and protection specification, the BOQ if one exists, the erection programme and the site city. Say whether the steel is yours or supplied through the offer. The quote then lists tonnage assumptions, inclusions and exclusions line by line.
Can you erect steel that the client supplies?+
Yes. Erection of client-supplied steel is a normal scope. The offer states the delivery point it assumes, how shortages and transport damage found on receipt are recorded, and who touches up the coating after erection.
What inspection records come with the steel?+
Mill certificates traced to heat numbers, weld maps, NDT records to the extent the specification requires, coating thickness records, and the as-built drawings. The specification sets how many welds are inspected and by which method.
How long do fabrication and erection take?+
It depends on tonnage, how fast shop drawings are approved, material availability, the protection system and site access. The offer carries a programme against those inputs instead of a single number.
