Electrical, Lighting & ELV Installation
NLS Contractors installs LV power distribution, lighting, emergency and central battery lighting, fire alarm, structured cabling and ELV systems on Saudi projects. Work follows SBC 401, IEC 60364 and NFPA 72, with test certificates, Civil Defense inspection support and as-built drawings at handover.
Electrical packages come in three layers. Power is the switchboards, cable tray, trunking, conduit, cables, terminations and earthing. Lighting is the luminaires, poles, controls and emergency lighting. ELV, short for extra low voltage, is the trade heading for signal and communication systems: fire alarm, CCTV, access control, public address, nurse call, and the structured cabling that carries data. A project may let these as one package or three, and the BOQ headings show which.
SBC 401 is the Saudi electrical code, IEC 60364 governs low voltage installations, and IEC 61439 covers the switchboard assemblies. Where the supply connects to the grid, SEC requirements apply. Quality here is mostly invisible once the ceiling closes, which is why the verification to IEC 60364-6 matters: insulation resistance, continuity and earth loop impedance recorded circuit by circuit, with certificates handed to the consultant.
The ELV side carries more approvals. A fire alarm installed to NFPA 72 and SBC 801 has to pass Civil Defense inspection and an acceptance test before the building can open, so detector spacing, cable rating and the cause-and-effect matrix are checked against the approved drawings, not against taste. Structured cabling is certified link by link to ISO/IEC 11801 or ANSI/TIA-568. CCTV and access control are commissioned against the device schedule and the head-end room layout.
Emergency lighting is where logistics buildings, hospitals and towers often generate late changes. Central battery systems to EN 50171 and emergency luminaires to IEC 60598-2-22 are set out against the duration and light levels in the specification and the Civil Defense comments.
NLS Contractors installs equipment supplied by the client or by NLS Power, so a project can buy switchgear, luminaires and fire alarm devices from the supply desk and have the installation priced in the same offer. A usable enquiry carries the single line diagram, the lighting and ELV schedules, the BOQ and the programme dates.

Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as ELV or low-current work?+
Signal and communication systems: fire alarm, CCTV, access control, public address, intercom, nurse call and structured data cabling. Power and lighting circuits are separate packages.
Who approves a fire alarm installation in Saudi Arabia?+
Civil Defense reviews the design and witnesses the acceptance test. The installer works to the approved drawings and NFPA 72, and keeps the cause-and-effect matrix and test records ready for the inspection.
Can you install equipment supplied by the client or by NLS Power?+
Yes. Installation can be priced on client-supplied equipment, or the supply and the installation can sit in one offer with NLS Power providing the equipment.
What tests do you record on LV installations?+
Insulation resistance, continuity and earth loop impedance per circuit to IEC 60364-6, plus protective device settings and functional checks. Certificates go to the consultant with the as-builts.
